I Have to Get This Off My Chest

I really wish America's Next Top Model was on tonight.

Seriously.

I hate waiting for season finales that have the promise of a catfight.

Wow, you're a Top Model addict too? I am no longer ashamed.

(Huh, my word verification code for this post is nytsxyc, which is very Sophie Texas New York City, if you know what I mean and I think you do.)

Although I must say the three finalists are a big yawn.

i'm a caridee fan as far as the final call. but i pray for a full on brawl between melrose and eugeana.

weird! i love it when the codes spell out odd things. i got "dalmav" once and i thought it was a good omen for the mavericks.

i missed the first couple of episodes (including the makeovers) so that picture is freaking me out just a touch.

let hope next season doesn't bring another dumbass kid from texas.

yes, eric, i said kid.

"Caridee"? "Melrose"? "Eugeana"? You're making these names up, surely?

I was rooting for the twins because they were so odd looking. Carridee is OK but kind of boring. Melrose is annoying as shit even though she does a really good job. Let's hear it for old broads (it's all relative).

No offense taken Jen. I can't prevent other people from mis-using 'kid,' but I try to avoid using the word almost completely.

All this said, you guys actually enjoy this show? Really? Explain yourselves! . . . and I mean that in a polite, non-on-the-spot kind of way. I just want to know what's the attraction of a show like this.

as i've said before, of all the reality shows, i enjoy most the ones where the contest (and especially winning) furthers the competitors' careers. like Project Runway, Hell's Kitchen, Top Chef or America's Next Top Model.
in this case, bitches fightin' is just an added bonus.

in case i wasn't clear, i'm just saying i like it when it's not all about money or "marriage".

oh, and it's a fun show. that too. i like fun things.

Well said, nerver. I feel the same way. There's an odd honesty to the competition. Plus bitches fighting.

Oh, I liked Survivor, too, because it was just a game. I got bored this season, though.

Idol is my favorite. I've even been watching the recap shows.

Thank you Nerver! Now I have a better understanding. That said, I still won't watch shows like these. Not my cup of tea.

Truly, the least annoying contestant won, although Melrose rocked that crazy runway show. Did you have any money on it?

i'm pleased with the results.

i'm even happier that melrose was a sore loser.

i didn't have any money on the thing, but they were two of my three early on (and i figured one of the twins).

i'm afraid melrose might have run home and put her head in the oven

yeah, when she acknowledged she was called a bitch the entire season...you'd think that might be a sign she should reexamine her general demeanor. but i bet she just feels sorry for herself instead.
i was very, very pleased for miss caridee. her reaction was so sincere.

I actually never saw Melrose behave in a way I would describe as "bitchy" except when she was rehearsing her lines out loud and told Carridee to just stop listening. But she was doing what she had to do. (Not that it helped her in that particular competition.)

She was annoying, certainly, and self-absorbed and cocky but she worked hard and was good. Mostly, I think, she was there to win and not to make friends. She was older than everyone else. I suspect she just wasn't interested in making nice with the other girls and they all hated that.

I didn't like her but I can respect a woman who can live with being called a bitch.

you know what, sophie? you make an excellent point. i may have misjudged melrose. she was perhaps, after i read what you said, just very, very driven and in "look out for number one" mode. the others were more team oriented despite the competitive environment and that may have made her seem like a dick.
