Random 80s Musical Bullying Scenes

Marls sent me a link to a BuzzFeed list of the 12 Most Amazing After-School Specials. There was a link to this dance fight from Ace Hits the Big Time:

And it's awesome (especially, "You're gonna look like cooked spaghetti!"), but it really just reminded me of my all-time favorite random music scene from the kick-ass Teen Witch. I used to know all the words to it.

Enjoy, people. Enjoy.

Good to Know.

I lamented the death of the age-appropriate temper tantrum long ago. I remember the sheer, unadulterated release of energy from screaming, crying and flailing various limbs until that first yawn. After that there was no possible way to keep up the physicality of the tantrum, nor the wailing. Then, I'd just (usually) drift off to a solid sleep and awake with nary a care the next morning save for puffy eyes and the occasional sore foot or fist from beating the mattress. Then at age 7 or 8, that got inappropriate. And that totally sucked.

Now, it seems my young mind knew more about relieving stress than my adult one. It is actually beneficial to have a tantrum? Yes! Well, not so much with the pounding fists or the face-in-pillow action, but with short bursts of shouting. I'm all about this.

And if you see me in my car with my mouth shouting loud enough to hear outside, but otherwise looking normal and not in danger, please carry on.

I Am Currently Obsessed With...

I encourage you to watch all of it. Repeatedly. Thanks to George over at Uncorrected Personality Traits for finding the video. I'd searched for way to long. We concur that "Fat Country Baby" and "Sweet Corn Memories" are gems.
Also of note on UPT for Doctor Who fans: Doctor Mew. I'm pretty sure the black cat is Christopher Eccleston.

Halloween Memories

What with all the Obamania going on, I totally forgot to load up a pic of my prize-winning (I tied for Most Elaborate) costume! Now my beautiful little baby of a camera is missing. BUT! Alas, on Halloween, for voting purposes, IT Eric, gracious took some pics from my SD card so I'm still able to share with you my costume...appropriate to this very blog.

We had some kick-ass costumes at work overall though, so peep these, yo. And again, sorry for the delay. And if anyone picked up a Nikon CoolPix at Double Wide Wednesday, holler at me.
R to L: The White Witch, Aging Indiana Jones, Marty McFly and Doc Brown, David Foster Wallace and Rocky Raccoon.
R to L: Phone Sex Mother, Alex Trebek, Demon Warrior, Captain Hook, Hawaiian Punch, Ben Franklin, Dr. Phil head on Tom Leppert body and Geisha.

Models Falling Down!

OK, so last night Jen and I totally ate up the ANTM and Project Runway. Tranny, catty and delicious.
Then bellapoison over at The Beauty Crucible totally rocked my world with this post. Just go there. Trust me. Perhaps it makes me a bad person. Nah.

Oh, Greatness

Thanks to Samerten for that one.

Oh, and SAD and bellapoison pointed me over to my favorite new blog: Cake Wrecks. I've been near tears I've been laughing so hard. And I'm not alone. Others agree...I can tell by the giggles and chortles. (But the links are just my faves, see for yourselves.)

This freaks me out so much...

Thanks to Matty for this incredibly bizarre fitness video. There's no way in hell we're ever posting documentation of our WiiFit shenanigans, so nibble on this nugget for a while. I have no idea what is up with the poodle-puff muscles and frankly, I'm not sure I want to.

Speaking of the Matt-tastic, though, I want to congratulate him and his lovely on their impending September nuptials! I've purchased a truckload of Kleenex and and waterproof mascara just for the occasion.

In other news, I'm a terrible blogger. My mid-year resolution is to stop over here more. In my lengthy absence from Alex, us DO music peeps busted out the Dallas Observer Music Awards issue, I got to go to an awesome narrative workshop in Archer City--where I was honored to meet THE Larry McMurtry, Texas' king of storytelling and I've inadvertently eaten cow's heart (just a peek at an upcoming food review). Now, with the timestamp urging me bed-ward, I'll say night-night and promise that I'll do my best to post more!!

Women's Chorus, Not Constantinople

Can't claim the find on this one. Pete at DC-9 gets credit. These ladies go to town on some They Might Be Giants. As I commented over there, I think the performance was lost on the audience. I could be wrong though. There could be a slew of TMBG fans at Women's Chorus events.

I Like Laughing

Thanks to Nerve.com and IFC for this neat li'l package of The 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches of All Time. My faves include anything and everything from the State, "Ass Pennies" from Upright Citizens Brigade, the Mr. Show sketch (there should be more), Celebrity Jeopardy on SNL (of course) and #37 from Smack the Pony (one of the most unheard of and underrated shows).

Canceled? You Don't Say!

Yeah, I'm being sarcastic, but part of me also really wishes I had seen Secret Talents of the Stars.

The story on CNN has more details, but really George Takai and Clint Black's "comedy" is all you need.

Aubrey Obama

Jen and I are both huge Degrassi: The Next Generation fans. So, it seems only natural then that I would notice this crazy physical favoring between our beloved "Jimmy" (Aubrey Graham, actor and rapper aka Drake) and presidential candidate Barack Obama. See if you agree:

In the Air Tonight

I don't know how long it's been around or how many people saw this before me, but I am currently obsessed with what I consider one of the best in random commercials.

If you can top that please advise.

International Male Is So Fabio-lous

So my work spouse was telling us how in college his household was somehow signed up to receive the International Male catalog. They'd peruse it's fine fashions meant for romance novel models and footballers on the night prowl and laugh and laugh and laugh. The Buzzer and I had no knowledge of this gem, so NWB promptly pulled up some choice selections. Some of them are horrendous, others are fantastically awful and others are totally Dallas:
The Ultimate Poet's Shirt (the ULTIMATE!! or the Puffy Shirt, according to Seinfeld)
The Big Rib Body Suit (ew)
The Classic Nightshirt (which Buzzer points out, would make pissing a two-handed job and therefore, it becomes an even bigger mystery why anyone would want this)
Commander Leather Waistcoat (fabulous name, but unfortunately must be worn with cross medallion)
Coyote Hooded Jacket (the ultimate in masculinity)
Adrian Sweater (should be called Huxtable Sweater)
I can't even link to the shorts.

Danzig? Is That You?

The Legion of Rock Stars has outdone themselves. I thought nothing could be "Anyway You Want It" or "Jump" but I was real wrong. Behold: "Mother"

OK, fine. Maybe it doesn't top "Jump." You decide.

Thanks to Matty for the linkage.
